If you're a landscape architect or allied professional, there's a wealth of information about the Chapter, its activities and what its members are doing in the "Chapter Info" section. | About the profession Landscape architecture is the art and science of analysis, planning, design, management, preservation, and rehabilitation of the land. The scope of the profession includes site planning, garden design, environmental restoration, town and urban planning, park and recreation planning, regional planning, and historical preservation. Practitioners share a commitment of achieving a balance between preservation, use and management of the country's resources. As landscape architects, we study, think, imagine, sketch, design illustrate, plan, and help implement a wide range of projects. We may specialize in commercial, residential or institutional design. We may find ways to recreate habitats for wildlife, or integrate habitat into the built environment. We may educate others in how to become landscape architects. We may be part of interdisciplinary teams creating new neighborhoods or even whole towns. We merge artistic, technical, visionary and educational skills to bring new ideas to reality. |
